Ok first off: Holy F- probably one of my favorite bands right now. These guys have some of the catchiest songs ive ever heard. The clean vocal chorus' like "Bully", "Miscarriage", and "Unwelcome" will get stuck in your head after two plays. The scream vocals are amazing too; he has almost a raspy scream, but its amazing. Instrumental: I love the sound out of the guitars and drums. Very nice studio recording. The breakdowns... Heavy and just mind blowing. The opening song "The Fathers Seed" starts out with phonecall from a girl to a creepy sounding dude telling him that "Im Pregnant..." then their heaviest breakdown in the album. The album also features a song "Small Face" from their previous EP titled "Wife Beater". And no, its lyrics based on anti-abuse not for it. Again, with this album I will never skip over a track. Every song on "First Born" is ace. Though my favorite song would have to be "Unwelcome" or "The Fathers Seed". Overall, my favorite album of 2011 by far and so far.

Rating: 10/10

Also, check out their recent cover of Rob Zombie's "Superbeast" pretty damn awesome!

The Gun Show's second release Discontentment, is pure awesome. Every track is great, not one song is skip over. The Gun Show brings some heavy breakdowns in every song which, for me, is always great. The recording quality in Discontentment is again, awesome. The guitar work is some nice refreshment in this genre. The intro sweeping (I think thats what it is? Ha I dont play guitar) in "The Honest Truth" is pretty sick. The drums: heavy, fast and intricate. The vocals are great with ranges of high to low and some yells/ shouts. The lows make the heavy breakdowns even heavier. Also nice guest vocals from Andy Atkins (A Plea For Purging) in "Negligance". Also, a clean vocals from a unknown woman in "An Overview" and "Apocryphal". The album has three previous songs from their EP titled Currents: "The Agegan System", " Currents", and "Founded Upon The Seas". All three remakes offer a different twist on the song, and all sound great. The lyrics behind every song are great. Even if you aren't Christian you can still appreciate meanings of certain songs like "The Girl".
Overall, Discontentment is an amazing piece of work and should be checked out.

Introduction

Welcome to Moshing Panda Album Reviews!

I decided to start a blog based on album reviews. I've been starting to listen to some very unknown bands that need to get out there. I will be reviewing/ exposing bands in the genres of metal and punk. Sub-genres like metalcore, deathcore, hardcore, post-hardcore, pop punk, progressive metalcore, easycore, crabcore, gravycore, beardcore, and whatever other stupid stuff its called. But as you can tell, I hate sub-genres, they cause too much arguement. Just my main point is to expose unknown bands as well as simply review already well-known bands.

My rules:
1: I will post 1 to 2 album reviews a week based on what albums come out that week
2: I will not post a download link
3: I will post links to that bands Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, ect.
4: Sub-genres? Screw em.
5: I will never directly say a band is bad. Who am I to judge? Do I think I can do better? Nope.
6: It will all based off my personal OPINIONS. People have different views, different opinions.
7: I will review whatever I find would please the viewers. It may be a band I do not like. But you might.
8: I will try not to forget :)
